Louise Parker delivering as only she knows how
On Saturday 16th May we move into vocal territory with the soulful LOUISE PARKER. Growing up in a house filled with music, from the folk, calypso and opera enjoyed by her Jamaican born mother to the trad, swing and be-bop from her jazz-obsessed father, vocalist Louise Parker, aptly named after Louis Armstrong, was born to create the sort of soulful sound that is earning her a great reputation in the jazz world
· “On all the normal counts of what makes a good jazz singer, Louise Parker seems to qualify; clear diction, fine projection, warmth, a feel for the lyrics and, most of all, she seems to give every song the right ‘weight’.” Just Jazz
· “There’s no substitute for good time and tone… Tender or wild, her voice never lost its warmth and her phrasing had an in-built propulsion rarely heard from others.” Jack Massarik London Evening Standard
· “Sweetly soulful jazz vocals.” Mike Flynn, Jazzwise Magazine
Louise’s band for this evening will be Marcus Vergette on double bass, Will Butterworth on keyboards and Eddie Kingdom on drums. Marcus is a highly sought after bassist composer and arranger, Will has been described as a “precociously talented modern jazz pianist who plays with spacious and fractious beauty” (London Time Out) and Eddie is a well known stalwart of the Cottles Club and the South West jazz scene.
